Families with children over the age of 7 who have not been baptized and desire initiation into the Catholic Church can enroll in the Children’s Catechumenate. It is a two-year process and culminates in the child receiving the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil.
FIRST YEAR
Children Catechumens will attend the 8:45 AM or 10:30 AM Sunday Mass to participate in Children's Liturgy of the Word. All children interested in entering the Catholic Church will attend Child Faith Formation for the two years. This affords an opportunity to engage with the community, ask questions, and learn more about the Catholic faith.
At least one Sponsor or Godparent needs to be chosen for the child who is a Confirmed, practicing Catholic. They need to be an active, registered member of their parish.
SECOND YEAR
Children Catechumens will attend the 8:45 AM or 10:30 AM Sunday Mass to participate in Children's Liturgy of the Word. The second year includes a Parent and Child Eucharist retreat and several rites with Sponsor & family which take place at Mass throughout the year. Schedules are provided to parents to notify sponsors as needed.
Parents should contact Child Faith Formation Coordinator to begin this journey.
