The parish priest strolling the street on a Sunday afternoon to greet his parishioners...
...flash forward to today. We are a much bigger parish, but this spirit of greeting is still alive!

The Home Visit Ministry is a communication ministry to greet all St. Martin’s parishioners. It is not a judgment of parish participation, or a campaign to increase participation, or a fundraiser. It is simply a greeting, so that all parishioners have a one-on-one connection to their parish.
Home Visits is temporarily taking the term home and setting it aside. The need to reach out to our faith community is even more necessary due to our present situation. We will begin reaching out by phone to our parishioners to do the following:
Does this ministry call to you?
And he said to them: “Certainly the harvest is great, but the workers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
If you are friendly, outgoing, and solid in your faith, this could be a great opportunity to share your gifts. Ministers are lit by the fire of Holy Spirit, are compassionate toward the needs of others, have good listening skills, and respect confidentiality. There is a commitment of about 2 hours per month. The date and time of calls is determined by the minister, and can change monthly according to one’s availability, so a commitment is modest and flexible. Training is provided, as are all resource materials.

Q. What is the Home Visit Ministry?
A. Very simply, Home Visit Ministry is a communication ministry to greet all St. Martin’s parishioners. It is not a judgment of parish participation or a campaign to increase participation or a fundraiser. It is simply a greeting so that all parishioners have a one-to-one connection to their parish.
Q. I received a phone call; so what next?
A. The Calling minister called with the intent to simply say hello. They would also like to talk with you for a few minutes to offer updates on what has been happening in the parish, offer connections to various ministries, bring forward any of your prayer requests and jot down any comments/suggestions you may have.
Q. I haven’t been a St. Martin’s parishioner for years. Why did I get a phone call?
A. Everyone who is registered as an active St. Martin’s parishioner is on our call list. If you have changed parishes, but did not unregister with St. Martin’s, you are still a registered parishioner here. You can simply contact the Parish Office to update our records.
Q. How will I know when I will be called?
A. We have over 3800 active families in our parish. Our ministers are actively calling homes monthly. Our goal is to reach out to each parish family in the next couple of years. We will periodically update parishioners with our visitor progress in the bulletin.
