Fr. Bony Arackal is a priest of the Diocese of Alleppey, India. After serving his home diocese as Assistant Director and Director of Social Service ministry for 14 years, he came to the Diocese of Sacramento in 2007. He served as Parochial Vicar at St. Basil, Vallejo, St. Joseph, Elk Grove, and St. John the Baptist, Folsom, before he was assigned as Parochial Administrator at St. Patrick, Weaverville in 2015. He was reassigned as Parochial Administrator at SS. Peter & Paul, Rocklin in 2016 and served that parish until June 2024.
Fr. Bony Arackal, the fifth of eight children, was born into a loving family of four brothers and three sisters. His journey toward priesthood began when he joined the minor seminary at Alleppey in 1982. He furthered his studies in India, completing philosophy at St. Joseph’s Pontifical Institute, Alwaye, Kerala, and theology at St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bangalore, Karnataka. His ordination to the priesthood of the Diocese of Alleppey on May 12, 1993 at St. Peter’s Church, Vattayal, Alleppey, his home parish, marked the beginning of his lifelong commitment to serving.
Bishop Kevin W. Vann accepted his request to join the Diocese of Orange and has designated him as the Parochial Vicar of our Parish. He is delighted to be part of the St. Martin de Porres Parish Family!
