All it took was 2 young mothers with a desire to spend a couple of hours a week grouping with other ladies from St. Martin's, to learn about and share their faith. They contacted 4 more friends, and there was no stopping them. With the approval of then pastor, Fr. Daniel Hopcus, and the help of Sr. Paula Damiano, WINGS took flight. Catechesis, Bible Reflection and Outreach and one very important component, child care! The first day WINGS met, the Team prayed for a dozen ladies to join. Forty women came to that 1st meeting, and another 40 young children came to child care! Today we have 170 women registered, and some of the children in childcare are grandchildren of the original members. WINGS has spread beyond St. Martins to Northern CA, St. Louis, Boston, Pittsburgh and other cities throughout the United States.
Listen to "Light in the Darkness", a "psalm" written by two of our WINGS, Irene Gonzalez and Sue Hartmann as a part of our 2015 Winter Season! It was set to music by our previous Music Director, Mark Haas and sung by his wife Renae.
